~~~~~ATTENTION~~~~~ I have decided to close down my blog and my facebook page. After a lot of thought and tears I've had to make this hard decision. I no longer have fun working the blog or the page. It feels more like a job to me now, not to mention I've been neglecting the street teams of the authors whom I love the most. I will be closing this page on October 1st. Thank you all so much for being a part of my book world and supporting me.
GENRE:  M/M MILITARY ROMANCE 18+
PUBLISHER:  ENCOMPASS INK
Two men with painful, complicated pasts who have shut themselves down from ever loving again. Complete opposites of one another, one raised in a strict military household, who grew up with the sole purpose of becoming a soldier and defending his country, only to have that cut short by an IED; and the other raised in the rodeo, small town and ranch life his safe haven; and their chance meeting.
How the two of them end up in some small town diner can only be credited to divine intervention. But are both men too damaged? They say God works in mysterious ways. Well, he certainly had his hands full when he chose these two for saving.
Is it too late?
We are here with Shelly Davidson. Her book Resurrection is out today and now we are celebrating her very first Release day Party. Congratulations, Shelly!!! How are you feeling?
Thank you! Feeling extremely excited and looking forward to seeing what other people think!
I'm with you on that. I can't wait to see how people react to Resurrection. But before I ask you about your book, I have a few personal questions. You are a new author in the MM genre. COULD YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
Oh, goodness. Well, I'm quite simple. I have actually been writing most of my adult life and started with fanfiction! I just never imagined I'd get published but it was always a dream. Didn't realize there was a whole M/M world out there until I got onto Facebook. I had no idea. I just thought I was weird. My friends teased me about it but when I found this beautiful world and how large it was, I had my chance to say Ha! I'm not weird! As for me as a person, I am a mother and grandmother, fiercely loyal to those I consider my family and have a very quiet boring life. I don't like to socialize and love naps!
I'm so happy you found our amazing community here!!! It's always a pleasure to see how many people think in the same way, how many people you can be amazingly weird with in the best possible way. DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE BOOKS AND OR WRITERS IN THE GENRE?
I actually prefer to read M/M as well. Mainstream writers - Storm Constantine for the androgynous world she creates with Wraethuthu, and I usually dislike shifter books but the Mad Dog Series by Brenda Cothern is absolutely fantastic. Tyler May, Piper Kay, LC Chase, Patricia Logan are all great. I read A LOT of documentaries on soldiers and dealing with PTSD.
Wonderful list you have here. Reading your book gives the perfect idea just how much research you must have put in this amazing project. COULD YOU TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WRITING METHOD? ARE YOU A PLOTTER OR YOU GO WITH THE FLOW?
I actually go with the flow. I usually plot out a timeline, such as age, major events and since I want to be accurate, I will always do a history check, you know, make sure the Army was in that country during that time period and such, and note any significant battles taking place during that time. Then I do a lot of reading and research. Pretty much a character comes to my head, usually grows a bit and ends up in a scene. With Resurrection, it all started with the last scene in Jamie's intro. I actually went backwards with that one, creating the history after I had the significant scene. Also, the entire story of Resurrection was supposed to be about a general store owner in a small town. Jamie took over on his own, and surprised even me!
Wow. I'm so very glad he did. Jamie is one of the most amazing characters I have ever read. DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH PTSD?
I do but mine is pretty minor. I have a couple events that have happened in my life that still affect me that my mind has totally blocked me from remembering. While the PTSD stuff in general fascinates me, I think it's more military driven. I just am fascinated by these men and women who go through so much training and ultimately reprograming, get sent to these countries and experience what we'd consider extreme conditions and horrendous events, put their lives on the line and then come back here with a convenient store on every corner and expect these people to return back to 'normal'? I just don't get that. After those types of experiences, you are changed!
Your portrayal of Jamie, living with serious PTSD is truly outstanding. I'm thankful for you to draw attention to the brutality and the very nature of this condition. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO FINISH RESURRECTION?
Resurrection actually took me exactly two months. Once the ideas started, the writing goes pretty fast for me.
Wow... It's pretty amazing. DID YOU USE ANY KIND OF INSPIRATION? MUSIC? PICTURES? VIDEOS?
Silence (I have a very boring life - have I said that before?) and the beautiful photography of Michael Stokes!
Reading your book I don't believe your life is boring... just quiet maybe. I truly can't wait for people to get to know your amazing talent!!! ONE FINAL QUESTION. WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT? I'M SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF IDEAS... WHAT COMES NEXT?
Next is one about a soldier that has a nasty history (He has not been a very nice man) and how he is working toward - redemption. Oh, I think I just found my title! Honestly that just happened. Awesome!
Lol... Awesome! I can't wait to read it!!! Thank you so much for being here with us. Enjoy this wonderful day and thank you for this amazing story again!!!
The pleasure has been mine. I still can't believe someone else wants to read something I wrote! This was fun. Thanks.
Who is Shelly Davidson? Shelly is someone who has been writing literally her entire life (and that’s a LONG time) and has always written M/M. Her first story was back in high school and she hasn’t stopped since. Of course, Shelly never dreamed of getting published, so needless to say, she’s in heaven! Shelly loves her characters. Her writing focus is real people, flaws and all, who are hurting or damaged, but deserve a little joy in their lives. Shelly was born and raised in Arizona, but currently lives in California because that is where the money is! She is currently single, but has a grown daughter and an adorable grandson both of whom she loves dearly. While she usually stays pretty much to herself, she does have a Bachelor’s in Social Services and a diverse background that ranges from theater to health care and currently works in accounting, she swears it’s not as boring as it sounds. While this is her first publication, it is by far not the last! She plans on being around for quite some time! You’ve been warned!
